Bibimbap

November 6th, 2011

Recipe: allrecipes.com/Recipe/dol-sot-bi-bim-bap/detail.aspx

I used a casserole, because I have no stone bowl. However, the rice did not become fried at the bottom. But it could also be that the rice was to wet or I did not used enough oil.The marinade for the beef was really delicous! (Though, I used only about half of the sugar listed in the recipe and I used rump steak instead of rib-eye. Also, I left it in the marinade over night and not just for 2 hours.)

Heavy Fuckin’ Metal

August 23rd, 2011

I never thought that I would go to the Wacken Open Air. However, this year’s lineup got some more bands I liked than usually. It was definitely worth it because the size is not the only reason why Wacken stands out of the masses of festivals.

Werewolves, Free Beer and more

April 3rd, 2011

The last week I spent at the IK2011 in Günne for the second time. I already wrote many things about the spring school in the field of cognitive sciences and artificial intelligence in my article about the last year’s IK. But even if I do not repeat all this, there are some points to mention.

Jimmy Eat World at The Warfield, San Francisco

November 10th, 2010

It has already been about a month since I returned from San Francisco. Among a lot of other I things I did there (I hope to upload some photos soon) I visited a concert by Jimmy Eat World in The Warfield Theatre. Although it is already a bit late I would like to write some words about it.

Play, Act and Learn and Eating, Fun and much more

March 20th, 2010

The last week was very exciting and I don’t really know where to begin. I was at the Interdisciplinary College (IK), a spring school with courses from the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Neuro Biology, Psychology, Cognitive Sciences and some other. This year’s focus theme was “Play, Act and Learn”. The event was placed in the Heinrich-Lübke-Haus in Günne at Lake Möhne.

Isn’t HP able to write working drivers?

April 19th, 2009

Because the old printer was not working anymore I had to buy a new one. It was a HP Photosmart C5380. But it gives me no joy, because the Mac drivers have a big bug. Showing the ink levels, printing test pages and stuff like that works without problems. However, if I try to print from a normal program, I get the error message “USB class driver missing.”. Therefore, I wrote to the support and they told me there might be different reasons for this error message, but in may case the problem is that I’m using a case sensitive file systems. These are not supported.

IMO such mistakes should not happen in a big company like HP and if these should be fixed as soon as possible. For me it seems that there are only written some file names in the source code in a wrong way and this should be now big deal to fix.

The Wall

February 22nd, 2009

Saturday evening I attended the concert “The Wall – in its entirety” by The Australian Pink Floyd Show (or just Aussiefloyd) in the AWD-Hall in Hannover. About a year ago I already wrote about The Australien Pink Floyd Show. This band is a Pink Floyd tribute band, which wants to play the music of Pink Floyd as near to the original as possible. The Wall may not be the favorite album of each Pink Floyd fan, but live its absolutly awesome!

Before I go on with further details I want to warn you that I may spoil one or two surprises.

Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition

January 6th, 2009

Well, I played 4e quite a lot by now. Most time as Dungeon Master, but also some sessions as PC.

In my opinion the 4th edition is great (not perfect, but an improvement compared to 3.5). I think, there are several people who dislike the 4th edition. Probably the best would be to try the 4e yourself. Everyone has different demands concerning roleplaying games: Some like more the roleplaying parts, others like more the kick-in-the-door style of gaming and want to slay hords of monsters.

Nevertheless, in this post I want to try to state why I like the 4th edition.

Aussiefloyd

February 23rd, 2008

Pink Floyd is one of the greatest rock bands and very important in the history of rock! But the chance that they will reunion and can be seen as complete group in concert is very low, I think. :( Luckily there is “The Australian Pink Floyd Show” (or short Aussiefloyd), which trys to play the music made by Pink Floyd true to the original.
