I decided to include advertisments in my homepage. For the time being it’ll be only a test for a month or so. Then I will look how much money I’ve earned via the ads and if there was any feedback from visitors of this homepage and I will decided if I delete the advertisment or not.
I think this little box at the top right isn’t very disturbing, because this area was unused and because I included only text links. Blinking GIFs, flash animations and pop-ups are no-gos for me. They disturb me when I’m browsing the web (ok, not any more, because I’ve got the AdBlock extension for Firefox) and therefore I don’t want the users of my homepage being disturbed by such advertisment.

Pink Floyd is one of the greatest rock bands and very important in the history of rock! But the chance that they will reunion and can be seen as complete group in concert is very low, I think. 
Luckily there is “The Australian Pink Floyd Show” (or short Aussiefloyd), which trys to play the music made by Pink Floyd true to the original.
Five good reasons for WordPress

WordPress Deutschland is asking for five good reasons to use WordPress. It isn’t hard for me to answer this question:
- It generates valid XHTML. Not every Blog or CMS system is able to do so.
- Own themes can be created easily and the time needed to get into the theme creation is much shorter than by other systems.
- No overloaded standard installation. The needed functions can be integrated with many plugins. Even own plugins can be developed and integrated easily.
- The interface is easy to use. After the installation of other systems I often did not now what to do when I logged into the admin menu.
- Last, but not least, it is for free and open source.
New pictures, Flickr

I’ve inserted some new photographies in my gallery and added some information about my equipment. Moreover I put some pictures at my Flickr page.
Maybe there will be a time when I will not use my gallery anymore, but only Flickr. The problem is that I wouldn’t do this without a “pro” account, which results in additional costs. On the other hand Flickr has much advantages like the much more comfortable user interface.
Anyway, as long as the gallery at this homepage exists there will be some kind of seperation between the both: Nor I will post all of my pictures I’ve taken on journeys in Flickr neither I will do so with my desktop screenshots or fun pictures. But I will post some experimental pictures in which I tried photographic techniques or pictures for competition or assignments.
Aside from that I decided to upload my pictures without the watermark from now on.
Yast: “SQL logic error”

A few moments ago I tried to update some programs under openSuse 10.3, but got an error from Yast: “SQL logic error or missing database”. But I was lucky, because this error can be corrected easily with this few commands (as root):
rm /var/cache/zypp/zypp.db zypper refresh
